Celebrating Maths Week in P2

17th Oct 2019

We have really enjoyed participating in Maths Week in P2. Throughout the week we have been engaged in practical Numeracy activities to help with our learning. We started each day with Numeracy activities set up by Mrs McArdle in the hall. At plan-do-review throughout the week we had Numeracy table tasks. These included sorting objects into sets, playing with 2d shapes, playing number games, continuing patterns and sorting coins. We have also been using our class computers to practice number games on Tizzy, Mathletics and topmarks. We became familiar with IZAK 9 again in our class. We used this resource to find the numbers and make patterns with our friends. We used our Numicon resources to help with our number recognition and set making between 11-15 also. We received a visit from Damien McGenity, who talked to us about how he uses maths in his job as a Post Master. This was really interesting. We found out how Damien uses maths to count, weigh and measure the length of parcels. We learnt that maths is all around us and great fun!
