P1 Weekly Newsletter

18th Sep 2020

What a busy week!

A brief overview from the P1 classroom this week:

  • During literacy we became familiar with our small working groups and focussed on responding to simple questions based on stories we heard this week and the 'Humpty Dumpty' rhyme.  We practiced Listen, Think and Do tasks and we also got to use our individual play dough to create the letters in our name.
  • At Plan- Do-Review time Alannah inspired other pupils to create their own little Elmer using an empty milk container.  Ollie had lots of fun pretending to be a robot that he created with his friend Tadhg using an empty cardboard box.  We enjoyed lots of outdoor play and fresh air! Some pupils had a go at skipping.  It is lovely to observe the pupils forming their own little friendship groups.
  • We also learned how to use scissors correctly and practiced cutting along a straight line.
  • In Numeracy this week we introduced the concept of sorting.  We will develop this concept further in the next few weeks.
  • Our PE and movement focus this term concentrates on the skill of balancing.  Why not continue to practice balancing at home?~ eg.  balance on one leg/ hop on one leg.
  • We took a lovely class photograph outside the front of our school building.
  • Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
