Making Rain Sticks in P4.

14th Oct 2020

Recently as part of our weather topic we discussed the water cycle and where rain comes from. It lead to a conversation about the weather forecast and how we rely on it to advise us of upcoming weather conditions. Our P4 children were very curious about how the weather was predicted in years gone by. We discovered that there were many different approaches based on different cultures. Some cultures relied on a special type of oracle called a weather maker, others had some very unusual rituals and supersitions including the use of rain sticks to encourage the rain gods to send rain in times of drought.

The children liked the idea of making some rain sticks. So we did just that. With some help from Julia we created our very own rain sticks from some recycled materials.

I think you'll agree they are brilliant. Well done P4.
