Science of Reading

21st Dec 2022

“We have been working on a knowledge mobilization project to share the Science of Reading and specifically Scarborough's Reading Rope with a wide audience. We endeavoured to make the video accessible for families, caregivers, volunteers, teachers and the wider community. We wanted to share  the many strands of the rope that help support a child  to learn to read. Through the voices of many literacy experts: literacy organization, teacher, school district administration, speech-language pathologist, professor, and librarian, we shared the role of eachstrand and small tips to support that strand. In this 15-minute video, viewers can get a brief understanding of the two key segments of the rope: word recognition and language comprehension. We hope to create a rope to bridge the gap between reading well and struggling to read.”
